Inclusion and fairness in the workplace . . . is not simply the right thing to do; it's the smart thing to do.

INCLUSIVE LEADERS

‘Leadership’ as traditionally defined is changing and the business case for a diverse workforce has been proven, the potential gains identified as many.

We know that a move to diversity and inclusion requires a change in organisational culture, and leaders are responsible for driving that change. In fact, 70% of an organisations culture is defined by its leaders.

It is what those leaders “do” that will define the success of an organisation striving for an inclusive and diverse workforce.

What is an inclusive leader?

Inclusive leaders have specific qualities.
They are self-aware: aware of their own values and beliefs, aware of their biases and prejudices, and importantly, they take action to grow beyond them. Leaders are aware of their impact on others, and of the organisational impact of being inclusive and encouraging diversity.

The benefits?

There is a powerful correlation between inclusion and high performance (and subsequently profit). Organisations that have greater gender diversity are 15% more likely to produce better returns, and this number increases for organisations with greater racial and ethnic diversity.
Inclusive leadership attracts (and importantly. retains) a more talented workforce, encourages more ideas and understands not only the workforce but also the customer.

At Equal Talent, our coaching programmes stretch people’s thinking to help change behaviours over the long term.

We work with people:

– As individuals–to challenge personal biases, beliefs and assumptions
– As Leaders of Organisations–to make commitments to diversity and inclusion
– As representatives–to lead the way in industry best practice
Your leaders will evaluate and develop their emotional intelligence and specific behaviours that will support inclusiveness.
We will help them understand their style of leadership and how to make it more inclusive.
We will encourage“Leader as Coach” as a key leadership style.
We provide group coaching, 1-2-1 coaching and workshops, all specifically designed to meet the specific needs of our clients.

CASE STUDY 1

Creating emotionally intelligent leaders.

We know that emotional intelligence sits at the heart of great leadership. If anything, it’s becoming more important as organisations recognise the benefits of being inclusive.

We’ll work with EQI tools and assessments to support you in your leadership role. We’ll help you develop awareness of your preferences, build empathy and improve how you listen.

If you’re filtering, then we look at how this impacts on your effectiveness. Our process helps you to identify the barriers to becoming a successful, inclusive leader, then works with you to remove them.
